About TLN

The TLN is a not-for-profit company supported by the Australian Education Union (AEU - Victorian branch) and the Victorian Independent Education Union (VIEU) to provide professional development for education workers. The TLN is an incorporated company with representatives from both unions on the Committee of Management. The TLN has been in operation since 1994.

The TLN is a member based organisation. Over 600 schools, early childhood centres, kindergartens, education centres and individuals are members. Members receive a range of benefits and discounts and are consulted by the TLN on their professional development needs. Membership is open to any school, early learning centre, kindergarten, education institution or individual in Victoria.

The TLN provides excellent professional development programs for school leaders, classroom teachers, early childhood teachers and assistants, and School Services Officers. Programs are open to all education workers but are offered at substantial discounts to TLN members.

The TLN identifies exemplary educational practitioners with the relevant experience and skills to facilitate quality professional development. Courses for classroom teachers are delivered by facilitators with current or recent classroom experience.

The TLN provides a consultancy service for member schools, identifying and linking facilitators with the needs of the school. View areas of expertise among TLN facilitators

The TLN also produces a high quality professional journal three times per year. The journal is written ‘by practitioners for practitioners’. The journal has a practical emphasis focusing on curriculum and classroom issues. View a summary of previous editions of the journal

The TLN works collaboratively with other organisations in the education community. Strategic partnerships are maintained with the Department of Education and Training, the Catholic Education Office, the Council of Professional Teaching Associations of Victoria and Kindergarten clusters including Geelong Kindergarten Association (GKA), the Peninsula and Chelsea Kindergarten Association (PACKTA) and Eureka Community Kindergarten Association (ECKA).
