First Nations cross-curriculum priority (secondary)
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander curriculum
Description:
The cross-curriculum priorities provide source material for CRTs who enter into classrooms where limited or no material has been made available. The cross-curriculum priorities in the Victorian F-10 Curriculum provide national, regional and global dimensions which enrich the curriculum through development of content that adds depth and richness to student learning in other content areas. In this session the focus will be on the delivery of learning area content that develops knowledge, understanding and skills relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures. The presenter is a secondary teacher and that will be the focus of the examples used. Those CRTs working in primary settings are encouraged to attend, but will need to make adaptations to the material for their students.
Standards addressed:
- 2.4.2 Understand and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to promote reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians
