CRT2213 Understanding the impact of trauma on students
Trauma can manifest in unexpected ways. Supporting students who have experienced trauma requires special attention to approach the situation appropriately. This session will focus on supporting teachers to understand the different types of trauma experienced by students and to learn new strategies that will help manage the behaviours that result. For CRTs on short term placements, it can be difficult to contribute to a program to support a particular student, however, understanding the principles of trauma aware teaching can lead to healthier engagement with individual students and an appreciation of how a school is supporting students. The session will be delivered by Berry Street.
