    This program focuses on a much overlooked, overworked and misunderstood teaching resource: your voice. Understand the mechanics of your voice, learn about caring and warming up your vocal cords and know the warning signs of vocal damage. We’ll also look at tips for softening your environment to reduce the strain on your voice. This program includes practical exercises for you to try.

    Peer based learning is a most effective form of professional development for classroom teachers. Great teachers should have the opportunity to share their excellent practice with colleagues in their own workplace and with a wider network of teachers. Presenting formal professional development programs is one method for great teachers to influence professional practice across a wide audience.

    In this program you will be coached and mentored to develop your skills as a provider of professional development programs.

    This program has several components:

    1. A recorded online session to be done at your own pace before attending in person
    2. A face to face session in Abbotsford (Victoria) on 25 September to create a workshop that people are interested in attending
    3. A face to face session in Abbotsford (Victoria) on 28 September to explore different types of PD delivery and work on presentation skills
    4. A hour-long 1:1 consultation session with a TLN staff member at a negotiated time on the 10th of November

    Entry to this course is by application to the TLN - clicking on the register button will start that process. Only 15 places are available.

    Applications close on 21st of July and you will be notified of acceptance by 28 July.

    Teachers from schools and early childhood services are invited to apply. Only 15 places are available.

    This program is sponsored by the Department of Education and Training Strategic Partnership Program.

    Catering is provided for the face to face sessions in this program.

    A Certificate of Participation for 13 hours of PD for the following standards will be issued to each participant:

    John Hattie's Visible Learning look sat the research that enables teachers to focus on making a difference for student learning. In this session Lori will explore:
    • Considering the research around Success Criteria and why it is so important
    • How to write Success Criteria that is linked to the learning intention and the task
    • Strategies for using Success Criteria throughout the whole lesson, particularly in relation to Feedback

    Google Apps, now know as G Suite provide a range of different tools that allow teachers to setup an online learning space that engages students. The different apps that form G suite provide the opportunity to collaborate on classroom tasks in a protected online environment. The presenter will take you through the process of setting up a Google classroom and explore different ways to use the apps.

    The research of John Hattie has emphasised the importance of feedback in the teaching and learning process. The right feedback at the right time can motivate students to become independent learners. In this workshop the presenter will outline the  ‘Know, Do, Be’ model which has helped to improve student engagement with their learning and has helped teachers to integrate feedback in the assessment process. 
    This workshop is mainly focused on teachers working in a secondary environment.

    This workshop provides an insight into how the curriculum taught in school doesn't and doesn't incorporate the perspectives of First Nation Peoples.  We will be looking at how including culture and adapating to the needs of students can make the curriculum more engaging and more accessible for all.
