Get the year off to a great start. The AEU/IEU CRT Kickstarter gives you all the information you need to make 2017 a successful year.
All participants will be allocated to a working group for the duration of the conference. The groups will be based around your experience and the sector in which you do most of your teaching.
Presenters will circulate between groups to present workshops on the topics listed below.
Strategies for getting your name recognised at local schools, building a professional image when working with schools, reminding schools of your skills and availability, developing professional relationships and being at the front of the queue for ongoing work.
Managing that Difficult Group as a CRT
Explore strategies for managing the behaviour of a difficult group of students when you have limited time. What can you do, in the moment, that will make a real difference?
Maintaining your Registration
Provides an insight to the support that is available to help you meet the requirements of professional registration and maintain that registration through professional practice and professional learning. New DET resources provided through the Victorian Institute of Teaching and the Teacher Learning Network will be reviewed.
The Best Back-Pocket Activities
Find activities you can run with students when there is a time gap in the lesson plan or when your other teaching strategies just aren't getting the concept across.
Last Minute Lesson Plans
Examining some useful lesson templates for conducting effective teaching sessions when the regular class teacher has been unable to leave a detailed plan for the session.
The Current Industrial Landscape
Looks at what you can expect in terms of wages, working conditions and employment conditions when working as a CRT. It also includes updates on the negotiations for new school agreements.
Making Things Better for all CRTs
Explore activities on which you can lead and activities to which you can contribute that will help to improve pay, conditions and the status of teachers working in a casual capacity.
